Incubated eggs for a possible broody

Can I just say talking to them works too. Firstly, I had been trying to talk my hens into going broody and I put lots of tempting things out there for them to feel the mood. Next my friend texted me and said can you please hatch me some little chicks again. I said to her that I've had a chat with them and the girls said that they are thinking about it. Then the next day, Wham! It worked -broody hen and not moving. I read her like a book! I'm starting to think that it is easier to read a chicken's mind and than my husbands!

At this point, Pippin is still just messing with us She alternates between sitting a couple of hours to jumping off the nest immediately after laying an egg. Two days ago, she laid an egg in the morning, jumped off immediately and then came back in the afternoon. She kicked another hen off the nest only to sit for about a half hour before leaving On the bright side, if she waits to go broody, I can have a second chance at hatching some of her chicks as her eggs in the incubator were not fertile.
