I have an incubator and it has a problem with the humidity, it keeps going up to 75-78% by itself and I open the tray for it from the bottom to cool it a little, it goes down but then goes too low. Does the humidity matter when it comes to hatching? This is day 1 and it has been a big struggle trying to control it. Please help me figure this out 🫶🏼

It is at 50% humidity right now on the weather app. I’ll stop adding water till tomorrow and see what happens. It’s currently 10:14pm, I’ll leave it till im done work tomorrow evening and see where it’s at.

You may live somewhere humid enough to get away with not adding water until lockdown, it's called dry hatching.

Im in NS i hatch year round without adding water for the first 18 days.

I looked at Calgarys weather and it seems like it's about the same out there as it is here for spring weather. I say give it a go with no added water for the first 7 days, get yourself a cheap secondary hygrometer in the mean time and candle at 7 days to see how the aircells are going.

I use these they seem to work well. https://www.amazon.ca/DOOMAY-Hygrom...1744694657&sprefix=hygrometer+,aps,107&sr=8-7

I’ll order it right now it might come in a few days. There’s still water in the incubator and my dad is saying we can try this dry hatching but keep a little water in at a time just to be safe. (He’s a first time hatcher as well). Do I put it INSIDE the incubator when it comes in?
