INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Welcome!

Hi all. Im in crawfordsville, in. (45nmins nw of indy).I consider myself pretty intermet savvy but not sure if i am posting this in the right spot, lol.
Growing up, we had many far animals, including chickens. In the 80's, I was a teen and my dad had 2 of the old style redwood cabinet incubators that we hatched out chicks from our flocks eggs and sold them every spring . I had chickens myself about 10 yrs ago and am now getting ready to go again.Im moving to the house my grandma had out in the country so im excited. I asked for a tabletop incubator for my bday and have eggs in it now,,8 days left! I bought chicks, and a few ducks a few weeks ago,, also got a few adult pairs locally. Going to pick up some dark throated golden and lady amherst pheasants Saturday. I have a million questions, even tho I would probably be considered semi experienced,, lol..
I am ISO many supplies and equipment, birds, etc..but ill ask later bc this is turning into a book..
so hi and hope I didnt post where I wasnt supposed to.

These 3 girls are Swedish flower Hens. They were pretty young in this photo - maybe 18 weeks.

Her color would, I believe, be considered milfluer. And it's not a rose comb on these girls. I think they just look that way because they're pretty young.

This is a better exhibit of the coloring of the Swedish Flower Hen - black based mil fluer.
I was saying that mine has a rose come and is a bantam with that color and is a mut chicken. She is very beautiful though. Her name is Amber.

Right now I'm using one from farm innovation. Today I should be getting Brinsea mini advance in the mail just in time to put some eggs in for the Easter hatch

You will be in heaven with the brinsea. They are great! I thought I was incompetent and couldn't hatch chicks to save my life with the Farm Innovator bator I have; I bought the Brinsea Eco and built several and now my hatch rates are awesome! I would set 40 eggs and have maybe 12 hatch of 30+ that would make it to lockdown! It was horrible! It killed Sooo many chicks! I only use the FI now as a hatcher. It works fine for that!

I've been debating purchasing a Brinses vs. an Incuview. So...I've been asking everyone for their experience with either, in addition to reading the threads on both.

Does yours have the turner? Do you feel you need a humidity pump?

I'd love to hear your review.

Oddly, some folks I've read are saying that they like the mini better because it holds temps and humidity better than the larger one. But the mini is so tiny it seems like if I'm going to get one I should just get a larger one to start with. I'm really debating due to the cost because at this point I'm not sure how often I'll use it. (I know, I know, chicken math will set in.) I guess I could always sell it if I felt like I wasn't using it enough since there are enough of us that would be interested!

I've been looking at building my own as well but I've been looking at this since the second not very productive use of my farm innovation one. I do like the auto turner. It's taking me 9-10 months to purchase it. For the money I was making sure it was going to be good. Other than seeing a few manufacturing problems I've seen a lot of satisfied reviews

I took a lot of time to make my descision so I got the mini advance even though it sets seven. I'm still pretty new with chickens Ive been doing it for two years. Next month I'm getting silver gray Dorkings and I like to start breeding them.
