Inducing detached air cell?

This is a weird problem to have, I can’t seem to induce a detached air cell in quail eggs. I’ve read about them of course, but have never actually seen one (have shipped eggs twice). I’m exploring the effects of various things on development and hatchability and thought this would be a cool thing to look at but no matter how I shake or manhandle them, the air cells stay maddeningly in place, what is the post office doing to packages if they can do it but I can’t? What is your experience in this department? Any ideas: younger eggs, bigger eggs, carnival rides, bungee jumping?

I have a hen that lays those now and then. In a batch of about 24 eggs with 6 hens laying them, I'll get one or two.

50% of the time they can hatch themselves, and I'm about 50/50 on those I've helped out.

I believe this is the culprit. She's molting now.



I've gotten a few saddled air cells from shipped eggs, and they've always hatched. I believe the post office plays football with our boxes sometimes.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they did, I wonder if we could get some back room footage?
