Hi everyone,
I am hoping someone can please give me some advice. After my little lady went missing over night she was found hanging upside down with her leg stuck in a crevice of a post. Poor little think is recovering ok in a dark box but I am concerned about her leg and foot. It is now dark grey and her foot has curled in. I am thinking this may be due to lack of circulation for some time? Thoughts? It is summer and warm so not frost bite. This has just happened today. She has had pain killers. Any advice on how best to mend this foot?

I would try soaking her feet in warm epsom salt water for about 10 minutes, a couple of times per day. That might make it feel better too and improve her mobility a little bit. I'd have her minimally on vitamin water, but if you have B-Complex, I'd give her half of one of those. It would help her heal her possibly injured bones and muscles.

Thank you! This sounds good. I will try this. It seems to be improving and she stood on it using strength in her foot to wrap around my hand. Not what I was wanting her to try but a good sign. Fingers crossed all will be ok soon

The dark colour can be bc is bruised. Massage would hurt. If nothing is broken she just needs time and comfort to heal.

Give her a comfy place to rest with good food (chick pellets / wet mash) and fresh water nearby.

I had an injured chicken last August. I brought her home from the neighbours who found her looking miserable. She couldn’t even lay down (probably a hip injury) and stood night and day in a nestbox. She needed several weeks to heal and gradually became more mobile. It took a few months to heal completely but is moving and looking great again now.
