I have a 4 week old chick. She had a slipped tendon (we think) her leg is still very swollen and she will not walk on it at all. We separated her today so she can get some rest. But she is so sad and doing a different chirp - probably distress. The others keep calling back to her as well. Should I still keep her separated? I am also wondering if I should put her back with the others each day for about an hour so that they still have their bond?

Awwww, how sad and distressing! I would put a chick with it to keep it company. This will greatly help her mental distress and her healing. Wishing the little one the best!
It was the saddest! She slept alone, and when I fed them this morning she started doing the call again. I put some hardware cloth in the brooder to give her her own little corner with food and water and she has been so much happier. Her little buddy even slept next to the wire with her ❤️

How sweet is that, maybe her little buddy can stay in with her...? I would try it. :love
