If they were bred for show you could sell their hatching eggs or offspring for more, if that’s a concern of yours. If not, they’ll be healthy nonetheless so the ‘faulty’ colour won’t matter.

@ozmarans when you’ve bred English and French types together, how have you found the nature of the feathered leg gene? I’ve heard talk of two genes being responsible, so is it difficult to get rid off entirely if trying to breed English types from these crosses?

I’ve lost a dozen or so in that time. Had a strange night where 9 died. No marks (though I didn’t get to see the bodies) and all one pen. All my Polish Batam hens died that night so I’m left with only Slash, the cock, who somehow bullies 8 lbs cocks in the layers pen.View attachment 4107484

Wow 9 at one time? We had a very unusually cold winter and I think 2 of them one being a polish just didn't adapt.
