International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I know this was an amazing thing to see. I look forward to hearing what happens in the future. As always, I love to see any of your bird photos! You have a beautiful flock! ❤️

This gave me a chuckle! I am always reigning in my hubby. He would have me running the bator all spring, summer and fall. Not to mention I have a few that goes broody regularly. We'd quickly be over run with chickens. He is the "big ole country boy" type but he turns to mush at the sight of baby animals. 🤭
I would get along with your hubby....

Hatch Chickies ..."Yay !!"

12 weeks later...."Oof ...space?!"

Hatch Chickies...."Yay !!"

🤗

Really easy using chicken math.... Just imagine that the wonderful, wholesome, nutritionally outstanding eggs that you can now eat are keeping you healthy! Who can put a price on health? Now just deduct the price of those many trips to the doctor/hospital, no doubt thousands, from the cost of keeping your emotionally supportive flock. You're actually saving money! You should invest all that savings back into chickens. 😉

when I was about 15 yo I ate 2 eggs for breakfast every single day. they were free range eggs from my grandpa hens. my mother and her best friend who dedicated her life to "healthy" eating kept shouting at me and talked about cholesterol. I didn't care. btw, that lady who followed the healthy eating propaganda died of cancer. I still don't go to any doctor. eggs are still my no 1 food.

A few pics of the current 6 bachelors. I did end up selling white/purple that @BlueTheBrahma called egg bound and not necessarily a cull at this stage.
Yellow/Orange still has that really nice tail on the left with White/Green's looking like it's getting high to me.
Both have real nice copper.
The 3 youngest I'm on the fence about so far being these are backcrossed to Kong from pullets. All 3 are over colored.
