International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Napoleon escaped the other day so I tried to get some pictures of him next to Loki. He’s got some serious growing to do yet, before he gets to his sire’s size, though I do think he’ll actually be bigger than Loki when fully grown.

The pictures aren’t great of the comparison but still show off his type. Just wish chooks man was still around on this thread to see him and share his wisdom.

I’m sure anyone who has followed this thread for long enough recognises this fella as @Chooks man’s Conan the Barbarian.

I’ve screenshotted pictures of him simply because he was the first fully coloured BlCM cock I’d seen, and I am using him as the standard to compare Napoleon to. Obviously Chooks man’s marans had more heritage then mine, but in a lot of ways Napoleon to me will be Conan to chooks man, the founding father from all my marans descend from. I know I’ve worked with Loki but since Napoleon is his son and will replace him as breeding rooster, the last ancestor of all my future marans will likely be Napoleon.

The funny thing is that I, the Englishman have a feather legged BlCM, while chooks man had a clean legged BlCM, despite us breeding for the opposite way around.

Kinda funny, as I scrolled down and saw the pics first and said "Chooks man !!".
I hope one day my chooks can be this massive and majestic.

I keep hoping maybe he needed to move again as he always said he was leasing/renting property because it's much cheaper or he took time off to get his book done. But it's been over a year now.

Hope he's doing ok but sadly missed.
