Hi everyone! I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself to this new community! I accidentally got into chicken raising recently. I’m a teacher, and my class incubated a clutch of eggs. After ten chicks hatched, I had to find something to do with them. My family tried raising chickens a few years ago, but it didn’t work out, so I thought I’d give it another try. We got the eggs through an extension of the program, so I’m not quite sure of the breed. That will be the first thread I post after this. When trying to figure out distinctions between the sexes, I found BYC. I don’t yet know much about raising chickens, but the chicks are awfully adorable, I enjoy eating eggs and spending time outside with animals, and I think the sense of responsibility will be good for me. It’s also a great opportunity to bond with and train one of my family’s three dogs, a Great Pyrenees mix.
