Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

You can drop the 'loaf' off this statement and it applies to all chickens.
I put straw in my run. I dig it into piles daily, to keep the poo smell down, putting it in big piles for their entertainment. The soil underneath is hard clay. I try to dig into it for them, and we do find worms, but it's clumped up by the next day.

How does one deal with the food they don't get to. Doesn't it start to rot?

They have had pumpkin, carrots, cooked potatoes, apples, watermelon, eggs, etc.
Today the cat killed a mouse, so I chucked that in. I'm afraid to go back to check out that situation, lol.

Question:
Does everything rot without harm?
Even rodent bodies?
