Introduction

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I too hatch silkies, staggered about every 4-5 days.

Wishing you a great hatch!

We’re glad you’re here!
mine are due tomorrow but I’m confused about so many things with the incubator, it dosent measure humidity and online in the instructions and on the app it all says different things so I’m hoping I’m doing something right and many will hatch, I have 13 eggs left :)

Beautiful birds!

You’ll need to pick up a thermometer/hygrometer to check the settings as right now they should have 65 to 70% humidity. Many of us like the Govee brand you can get on Amazon.

Here’s a great deal too for six Inkbird ones if you’d need a few of them.

We use them in our incubators, brooders, the coops, and our camper.

Are they trustable tho?

Inkbird makes thermostats too, among other things. We use them in our brooders and have a 200 watt black ceramic bulb with UL-listed shield.

None are going to be perfect or stay perfect, so that’s why we calibrate them monthly:

CALIBRATING:

For temperature, put your H/T in a sealed Ziplock bag. Then fill a large bowl with ice, crushed ice is best if you have it. Fill it almost to the top with water and stir it around. Toss your H/T in there. It might take a few minutes, but it should read 32F.

For the hygrometer, take a soda or water bottle cap and fill it with salt. Then add a bit of water so it's saturated, but not super wet. Put that cap in the baggie with your H/T and seal it. Wait a minute or two, and it should read 75%.
