I've tried my shoe box method on 3 hens now. I also spread out a small hand towel in the box because this made it sooo much easier to left her out. Put a small piece of fluff fabric like from an old quilt or anything to pad across her breast bone because the bungy cord laid on top of the breast bone. Make sure its not too tight! Next time I'll try to place the cord away from that bone. 2 of the hens just laid there quietly even with their eyes closed. I covered their head so they couldn't see which makes them less flighty. Make sure they have room to breathe. The 3rd hen struggled at first but relaxed the rest of the time.
