Is it necessary / advisable to leave a light on at night

Just my opinion, but I thing God allowed so many chicken breeds so that we could pick one.

I use a night light in the coop at night. I read in CHICKEN FOR DUMMIES, "Dim light inside the coop at night is helpful because, it allows the birds to defend themselves from some predators", and "if the birds are spooked off their roost at night, they can find their way back on". I think it's an individual choice, but this is what I do.
