I have a box of stale Frosted Flakes and wondered about feeding it to the chickens. Is this ok considering the sugar?

DANG! I just threw away a box of Rice Krispies that was going stale... I didn't even think to give it to my chickens!

Hi all! I have 4 Silkies, 7 Appenzeller's and 3 Serama's. I feed out of date and stale cereal all the time. There is 3 of us and nobody eats the same cereal. We have lots that go stale. My chickens love Chex! I also buy a loaf of bread each week with 1/2 or 3/4 of it going stale (not moldy) by the next week. They all go insane for bread! I've even fed cookies! They love sugar cookies lol.

We toss our table scraps over in the field each evening after dinner. We have 3 outdoor cats that love table scraps. One evening the chickens were out when we tossed the scraps. I looked over and there sat three black cats and 7 chickens all eating from the scrap pile. It was too funny! They will eat just about everything!

Mine go nutty over rice crispies and cheerios! I would be careful with the frosted flakes though. To much sugar at one time, might not be a good thing. Just give them in moderation and all should be well.

It's fine, but considering the sugar I would say that it depends on how much cereal and how many chickens. I wouldn't feed a whole or even half a box to 3 or 4 girls, not all at once. Just a little here and there. But if you have quite a few birds, just dump it and watch the fun!
