Ope, I guess what are you seeing that's showing you its a boy? I have another that's only about 2 weeks old so I wanna be able to look for things as this little one gets older

It is most definitely a cockerel. It is the coloring that tells the tail. This is close to black breasted red. Black breast feathers in this color pattern indicate a male, as does the dark red patches. Females would be brown with gold hackle feathers, and salmon colored breasts. This bird also has male specific feathering coming in on his back-- the slim, glossy red feathers.

I agree, looks like male specific coloring (black breastfed red or similar enough anyway) to me.

Oh perfect! I was actually hoping he'd be a rooster, he'll probably be amazingly pretty when he's fully grown
