View attachment 1432422 Hey, so I am new to the mottled java breed and unsure if this is a roo or hen. I was told when "she" was a chick that she was a hen but I know that there is always that 50% chance they are wrong. The mottled java was raised with an Egyptian Fayoumi rooster who is defiantly a roo. They are the same age but my Egyptian definitely looks like a roo he has a very big bright red comb( I attached a picture so that you can see too) because of my Egyptian fayoumi having such a big comb and my mottled java looking more like a hen I just assumed it was a hen. However earlier this week the feather around me mottled java neck rose and tried to challenge my roo. Also whenever my rooster would crow my mottled java would try to crow too except it wasn't as loud and was a lot more deeper. Since we separated my mottled java from the Egyptian roo "she/he" has not tried to crow. Could my mottled java just be a dominant girl or a late bloomer?
I have the same question... but different story... no eggs as of yet, very docile and sweet Pepper is around 7-8 months old...hasn’t crowed as of yet... any thoughts ?
