The size sounds fine. If you get storms at all, you'll want to give them some protection and some shade. Look around for a small, used dog house. Put up on some blocks, it would work just fine. An outgrown child's playhouse is fun, too - both for you to decorate and look at and your birds to explore. You can generally come by those really cheaply, too - and you may find one with built-in nest boxes in the form of a play refrigerator!I have an run/cage that's about 9.5 feet by 4 feet in size, would that be enough for 1 rooster and 2 to 3 hens.
Can I get by with just a run and no coop?
I live in a area with pretty mild weather with the coldest temps being around 15 degrees Celcius and have no real predators
Any ideas for adding nesting boxes?
I was thinking I should make them raised/above the ground so they take up less ground space but don't have any designs for inspiration
