Is the rooster dance always a sign of aggression?

So I know that when roosters dance at you it can be a sign of aggression and dominance, which has been the case of my past roosters but has it ever been a sign of them just liking you?

I have a particular rooster I've hand raised that has never attacked me. When I call his name he'll cluck at me and start picking around the ground and hang around me. When I sit on the ground next to him he'll get near me and do the rooster dance, then let me scoop him up and cuddle him. Not once has he raised his neck feathers at me, pecked, or chased me. He pretty much lets me do whatever I want with him. Should still take it as a sign of eventual aggression and deter him, or is he just friendly? He's about 7 months old now and an Americauna- picture just because he's too pretty not to share.

He's handsome!

If he's dancing for you, I always take it as a sign that you're part of his flock, meaning his equal or subordinate. Pecking the ground would worry me more, tbh. I don't think it's a good sign, but every cockerel is different.

I have only raised two males. One I didn't know was a male, so I treated him like a pet. He is terrible now. He STILL pecks the ground and dances at me - right before he flogs me. He is teeny tiny, though, so he can't hurt me. If he were larger, he could do serious damage.

I'm voting " not always". I've raised several from 0 to 5 plus y/o. I've had them dance and tidbit. None have shown aggression. (Both, like yours, were easter eggers)
I've had two in particular, one 4+ and one that was rehome at 1yo, who were super friendly. Both danced everytime that I was near them.
Neither ever showed aggressive behavior.
In fact, the only two roosters that have ever shown any aggression toward me at all, were actually skittish around me. In their defense, both of them were protecting hens who screamed because I picked them up. I used my foot to defend myself. Both those boys are still living, and neither has ever been aggressive again. I handle all my roosters regularly. I do show them favouritism by treating them, and then letting them tidbit for their hens. I try to respect them, even when their actions don't make sense to me. I want them to respect me too, but I don't want them to fear me.
I would say be wary, and be aware, but not fearful.
