I thought it looked like broken feather "roots" running down his leg. He's most likely a mix then. Small chance he was a Black Marans too.

We got Elvis by chance, so we didn't really know what he was or even how old he was. When we were just getting started, a lady at our church with a couple hunded birds let us pick out a dozen or so birds to get started. We sure didn't know what we were doing! She just wouldn't let us take any that were very old. When we heard one crow, we realized we'd need a roo. Looking around, we saw this big black rooster. The lady said we should take him as the other roosters were picking on him. He crowed again and I named him Elvis on the spot.
