Yesterday I noticed that one of my chickens developed some swelling on the left side of her beak where it meets the cheek. It looked like she had something stuck there. I was able to pull some of it out, not all (I am attaching a picture). I checked on her this morning and I was able to remove what was left over but I was wondering if it is a canker and if I have to separate her from the others. I have 19 in total.
She's not lethargic, eating/walking normal, I didn't notice anything else out of the ordinary.
Also, if it is a canker, what's the best way to treat it?

thank you

Do you have a picture of what it looked like still attached? Can you check inside her beak for more? What does it smell like?

It might just be a peck wound that had a small abscess. Canker usually grows inside the beak and mouth, and may extend into the crop. It smells rotten, and may cause swelling in the cheek.
