Is this chick wheaten? How did this happen?

They can vary from very Yellow, to Pale Yellow, or Yellow with Bright Yellow on top. Some may resemble golden. It all is based on what other genes are present as well that'll influence the tone. View attachment 4107070View attachment 4107072View attachment 4107073
I don't have any other picks of the birchen x duckwing cross that produced those duckwing looking chicks, that was quite awhile ago. I don't think they were yellow at all as I would have noticed that. I likely wouldn't have noticed a thin eyeliner though or a slightly lighter chick pattern. So I'll look for that in the future. The first yellow chick I got is the mother of the yellow chick this thread started about, I took quite a few pictures of her because she was an oddity, she was bred to that same birchen roo that produced the duckwing looking chicks, so I'm confused about getting a yellow wheaten looking chick again. The mother of the current chick, and I have no idea of genotype, just guessed she was blue wheaten duckwing split and I'm likely way off idk 😂 Her coloring is buff, blue and salmon

She could be Columbian, or Incomplete Columbian, with a Wheaten/Duckwing base. If the chicks(Solid Yellow) have little to no markings that maybe what the hen is carrying.

Why would she need Columbian to produce yellow chicks when crossed with a wheaten carrier? I see no Columbian on her.
