Hi everyone, my Cayuga ducks laid this egg about three days ago and i noticed yesterday the formation of a black dot in the center that’s become more prominent today. Is this a good sign? Or has the egg lost its chance? I cant make out any veins quite yet!

Does the spot wiggle around when the egg is turned? Looks more like a big meat spot to me, if an embryo was that big you should be seeing the veins as well. Give it a couple more days and check again for veins. Floaties in a hatching egg aren’t great but I did have one hatch (only noticed the floaties after incubation started).

no it doesn’t! but when i move the egg there seems to be a shadow of something next to it floating alongside it. could a meat spot develop next to an embryo?
