Two of my young chicks are not gaining weight. As you can see in the picture. Here is what I have tried.

They are on medicated started feed. They eat mostly the smaller pieces, so I crush some of it, but leave some whole. But they do eat regularly!

Luke warm egg yolk- not super interested, but ate a little.

Scrambled egg and hard boiled eggs yolk- not interested

Sugar water- will drink from syringe

They drink regular water often

The brooder is set between 93 and 97° it has been fluctuating- but I literally set my alarm for every two hours to check the temp.

They came to me with pasty butt, but I have cleared it and they are having normal, albiet small poops.

I separate the two younger ones for most of the day, but they have time with the older chicks, and are not being bullied.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

How are they doing today? When I have weaker, slower ones, I do what you do and separate them from the rest so they can sleep more, eat, and drink, more peacefully.

I put wet crumbles in a plastic peanut butter lid, and they seem to like that better than dry.

So much better. I did separate at night, and proved the little ones with their own food and water. The vet recommended Kaytee Exact formula, and they have began putting on weight!! They even seem more alert and h7ngry for their starter feed!! Not out of the water yet, but it's looking up!
