Hi all! We got 15 "pullets" from TSC last Friday. I assumed there would probably end up being a rooster in the bunch. We were trying not to have one to be courteous to our 1 close neighbor, but if we end up with one that's ok. I can say I tried 🤷‍♀️

Anyways, I have my suspicion about a couple thinking we might have a roo or two, but now I am thinking one Sapphire Gem is definitely a boy. After reading online and on here, everything about it points to roo so far.
It is lighter than the other two and has a head spot.

I know it's too early to tell with the others but what do you all think about this one?
I will try to get some updated pictures today. The two darker ones have more wing feathers than the lighter one too and their beaks are darker.

I'm going to keep adding to this thread as he grows in case anyone else is ever looking for pictures like I was.

He's around 3 weeks old now and my husband has named him Bill.
He is not friendly whatsoever. He's the most unfriendly of the whole group of 15 chicks. The other two Sapphire Gems are very friendly.

About 4 weeks old.
He's getting a little friendlier. If he hears or sees something different he makes little noises and the rest of the babies run. Really neat to see that already.

I'm not sure! I've had two Sapphire Gems, one was even lighter than yours, the other quite dark. Both were hens. The darker one I thought was going to be a roo, her comb was and is huge!!
I have two that should be hens, one dark and one light. They are feathering a little quicker and have tiny combs. Then there's this dude who had a had spot and the others didn't. I have since learned that definitely means roo with sapphire gems.
Yours is very pretty, I believe we have one that will be that shade.
