Hey! My quail seem like they need some bathing bc their eyelids and feathers point towards the direction of mites😭. I got this hypoallergenic shampoo for them that’s unscented and used for cats! Could this be ok to use?

Thank you!

Bathing is a last resort so they don’t die from stress.
Can you get permethrine poultry dust?
Can you get pictures if the suspected mite areas.
Ohhhhh ok! They have regular dust baths but I don’t know what a permethrine one is lol! I have also given them diatomaceous earth and I’ve been rubbing it in them as well as adding some into their dust bath!

I know😭 I need to clean that cage, I definitely underestimated the stench and dirtiness of tiny poops. I feel so bad my poor babies have bad eyelids and I’m gonna help them! We got chickens and I’ve been so focused on cleaning their cage and making sure they lay healthy eggs that I think I forgot to clean their cage and besides just cleaning their water and food and filling it up I forgot to look at them and check for things that weren’t well. Pls don’t judge me, I love those tiny things lol! I think I also made a poor choice of where to place their homes, they are on the patio and are by a screen fence which catches so much dirt😭
I promise I love them pls don’t report me to the animal abuse place lol!
All the brown ones are girls and the blonde quail is a boy!

Diotomaeceous Earth doesn't work for mites.
You can find some permethrine based powder at a feed store.
What's their diet? How many hens to the males? Putting a hardware cloth floor and raising your area(?) will help with poop build up.

Ohhhhhh ok that makes sense! I’ll definitely find some of the dust bath thingy at the store! I do one male for three hens bc I’m too scared to see what happens if I put two males together 😬. I have them on the game bird show bird starter grower from Purina. They also have chick grit and oyster shells! I also feed them dry mealworms sometimes and they devour them! Ooooo that’s a good idea thank you!

You don't have enough girls to keep 1 boy, the feathers damage is from over mating. You need at least 3 more girls.
