Is wild cucumber ok for chickens?

Chicks coming in from a hatchery are not likely to be carrying a cocci-strain they are susceptible to. They could have picked up something between you and the hatchery. Otherwise quarantine efforts failed in brooder.
I'm not sure what you mean between me and the hatchery...I would like to understand because I lost 4 of the 8 after a fight to save them all summer. I guess that I instinctively didn't think having thousands of chicks with hurried employees was optimal conditions. That is why I wanted to avoid "chick day". I know there is debate on medicated food, I did use it though on my first healthy batch. With the second batch I found out after they started showing symptoms, they "ran out of medicated food on chick day, so if you were here in the afternoon it was not medicated" They sell it divided in 10 pound bags that are not labeled. I guess I will always wonder if that was the problem. It really was awful watching these beautiful chickens growing and then loosing about one a month. I was doing everything I knew how. Don't want to do that ever again!
