Anybody keep Jacobs?

Someone gave me the opportunity to get some Jacobs and I'm just not sure. We have alpacas, and they are fairly docile as livestock go. The horns on the Jacobs scare me a little bit.

How are they for fiber? Meat? are they docile? Easy to care for?

Just wanting to find out if anyone has any experience with them, thanks!

(ok this is also posted over at BackYardHerds but not sure if everybody over here is also over there yet. Don't know the rules on double posting on 2 different forums.)

Yep, we have about 13 right now and I love them. This year we sheared 9, and they gave us between 1 and 4 pounds of fleece. They are efficient eaters and don't require as much space/acreage as normal sheep. The horns can be intimidating, but I never had a problem nor did any of the other people that I know with Jacobs. The guy who got me started with Jacobs always donated his wool to someone and just used them for meat. We have not eaten one yet, but that will happen sometime soon. Mine stay with a pair of Mini donkeys and they have no problems, I do nothing special for them, 'cept give them some grain and they hang around and eat my grass. Kind of a simbiotic relationship!

we have a decent sized herd of them at work.
The horn can intimidate some people. But they are generally docile.
Myself, I love them.
We will be shearing them shortly.
