, 2/6 clear. These are ebay eggs and wasn't expecting much from them so 50% so far I'm quite happy with.

The mom with the smaller babies she hatched one the other 3... She quit laying on them so I brought them in and hatched them. She is taking real good care of them.

Just completed 7 day candling 12 mixed marans eggs and 2 surprise eggs. One of the surprise eggs looks clear, the rest have great veining and swimming embryos. I will leave the clear until day 14 then discard. One of the eggs did not really have a fat end, and the air cell was growing at the bottom I have placed it at the top. Hope it will be ok.

Way to go so far, guys!

Day 9 candling of the second batch in incubator and crabby broody Isbar:

Hedemora Group 1 (Shipped): 3 infertiles / 6 very good / 2 maybes
Hedemora Group 2 (Shipped): 3 infertiles / 9 very good / 1 maybe
Single Isbar (Our flock): Infertile
Single Hedemora (Our flock): Good!

Broody-Butt: Was still a bit light outside and we candled in the coop so it wasn't the best lighting, but we did pretty well.
Our Hedemora: 2 good
Our Isbar: 3 good / 1 maybe
Hedemora Group 1 (Shipped): 1 infertile / 1 good
Single Hedemora Group 2 (Shipped): Good
Single Brahma (Shipped): This was in my Hedemora order, I received one Brahma egg instead of a Hedemora (oh well) but it looked viable

Lock-down and their final candling on the first incubator on 7/9!

This is my first hatch and today is day 21. We have 5 eggs. So far three have pipped, two are are starting to zip and one is shaking a little. It was tough convincing my daughter to go to bed tonight.

Hatch update: Down two Delaware eggs due to fumble fingers during turning, cracked

. Did receive 5 extras with purchase

, so not too gutted...yet.
Do not feel bad. Yesterday I dropped a day 21 egg on a wood floor - a three foot drop or more - and shattered the shell. Blood everywhere. The chick writhed and squirmed for a minute, then died.
