Jumbo Pekin Hen - Walking Problems

The apparently necrotic tissue and swelling on the bottom of her right foot is an ulcerated callus with deep cuts that are causing her pain when she walks, this diagnosis from the vet is not uncommon with large, heavy duty breeds. She is on liquid antibiotics from my vet that I will administer twice a day, and change her bandage once a day with a fresh gauze pad with Neosporin. Nevertheless, Millicent, I call her Milly, is on the road to recovery and I hope she will be walking almost at her best by her follow up appointment. :D Thank you to everyone to have willingly taken the time to give me additional advice and sympathy. :hugs

I am at an utter loss. For reasons unknown, although Milly's ulcerated callus healed nicely, she passed away last week. Even after her foot healed, she continued to go downhill, to the point where she could no longer even take care of herself anymore, even the simple task of preening was impossible. She just couldn't stand, I don't know why, and I just can't believe she's gone. I know I'll never have another duck like her; I raised her up from day one when she used to sit on my lap and take naps, the cutest, chubbiest little yellow duckling. In a way, it is a relief to know she is no longer suffering, but that can't wipe away the sadness. Thanks again to everyone who was willing to share their knowledge and comfort. :hugs
