Can anyone post a side by side difference between the two? I'm considering a new coop to house jumbos but don't know if its worth it. egg size would help too! Can jumbo and regular be bred to make a "medium"? Thanks for any and all info!!

A jumbo could be bred with a regular but that's not really a good idea. It took breeders many years to selectively breed the jumbos. You would undo everything they've done if you bred them with regulars. Either get jumbos or regulars and keep them in separate cages.

I bought some jumbo birds off of craigslist. 2 are very big and the other 4 are larger than standards but not huge. I averaged the weight of 1 dozen eggs and it came to 13.98 grams. The smallest was 12.21 and the largest was 15.28 (no double yolkers). All the eggs from my 2 bigger birds weigh over 15 grams.

I had some standard birds a few years ago. I was getting 8-10 gram eggs. The 13 gram in this pic was a double yolker.

So a Grade A large chicken egg weighs 60 grams. It takes 4-4.5 jumbo quail eggs to equal a chicken egg. It takes 6 standard quail eggs to equal one...

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I'm certainly not trying to undo what people worked hard to do, I don't sell eggs or birds. I plan to keep them separated, that's why the coop question was raised. thanks again!!
