Good afternoon, happy Easter fellow chicken lovers, I just purchase my first set of hatching eggs, I've been doing my research for months at this point and have decide to started out with bantams specifically a personal favorite... the silkie, if any one can share tips and advice for their incubation temperature and humidity levels. I already have the incubator the brand is a Meuioso incubator that I bought off amazon.

@Debbie292d knows a thing or 3 about Silkies and incubation.

Edited to add. I would suggest getting an external thermometer/hygrometer, calibrate it and check the accuracy of your Bator. It's fairly common for them to be off right out of the box.

Govee brands get good reviews around here.

Hi,

We have silkies hatching every 4-5 days here.

All incubators are calibrated using a Govee thermometer/hygrometer. The thermometer/hygrometers are calibrated monthly.

Having one of those to double check your incubator settings is imperative as they usually are not correct. Mine aren't either so doubt yours is.

The only thing about silkies different than other breeds is that they can hatch early. 19 days is not unusual.

99.5F
40-50% humidity until lockdown, then 65-70%.

Wishing you a great hatch!

thank you so much for the advice, it's gonna be a while cause the eggs are being shipped a few days

@Debbie292d can you walk me through calibrating a Govee? I bought one on Amazon and I’m pretty impressed but would like to ensure it’s accurate occasionally. Thanks for any advice. This is the one I bought….

For temperature, put your Govee in a sealed Ziplock bag. Then fill a large bowl with ice, crushed ice is best if you have it. Fill it almost to the top with water and stir it around. Toss your Govee in there. It might take a few minutes, but it should read 32F.

For the hygrometer, take a soda or water bottle cap and fill it with salt. Then add a bit of water so it's saturated, but not super wet. Put that cap in the bag with your Govee. Wait a minute or two, and it should read 75%.

If either are off, you hit the settings icon and scroll down and should get to where you can +/- each setting. These usually aren't off or off by very much.
