That is very nice I think that would be best for the little one to grow up with others of it's species.

You are what true, responsible animal conservation is all about! If you would really like to add some green and brown to your flock, look into some hatchery or local-breeder mallard ducklings. They tend to be heavier-bodied than wild mallards, so they're less likely to migrate off with their wild cousins in the fall.
