Kat’s Journey into Chicken Keeping

As to the fan, I would place (facing) the window, and have it remove the air from inside. The other open windows would bring in outdoor air. Inside of coop would be pretty much close to outdoor temps. Without fan ,,,, yes the inside could get significantly hotter.
I am not sure if chickens perspire thru their skin or not. I know that dogs do not. Wind would then not really cool the chickens then.
I know that drafts are bad for chickens during winter. What the draft does, is ruffle up the chickens feathers. Allowing warmed air to escape from the layer of fluffed feathers.
Lets see what others think about this. :idunno

I think I’ll try that. Since what I want is to circulate air that might work best. :highfive:

It’s been hot (95 degrees) and humid the last few days. I’ve been making sure the chickens always have lots of fresh water.
Today DH and I got them a fan.

It’s quiet enough when turned on low, but the girls were still reluctant to go into the coop at first. But it got dark out and in they went. Hopefully they will like the breeze.

Aww, they're so pretty!💞 We have a fan too, I believe it has saved my chickens, especially when our temps were hitting 108!

How is it going with the hens you have? I remember one of them had lost her tail feathers. I imagine they are doing better since being in your care.
Got any chicken pics?
No recent ones. Her tail feathers are growing back and the clipped beaks are growing out well as well. They're no longer terrified of me, which is good, but I still can't pick them up without them panicking. I"m working on that by holding them like I'm about to pick them up, but on the ground so they don't feel like they're being lifted by a hawk.

Here are some pictures of my second group of chicks when I first got them (07/31/20)
