Morning BYC! This is my first winter with my 6 Cinnamon Queen hens. They are 1 year old since hatch and cold hardy. We live in Illinois and have some cold temps on the way. So far this winter my hens do not seem to mind the temps at all while in their run. With the temps forecasting to be in the single digits for a high next week I'm wondering if that is OK for them to be out or do I not open their coop door? I do have plastic to stop the worst winds for them. Thanks.

I open the pop door in the morning and let them decide. On a calm sunny day with a temperature of -4 F (-20 C) they went out to enjoy the day. If a cold wind had been blowing they would have found a windbreak or gone back inside. Temperatures in that range don't seem to bother them but a cold wind does.
