Keeping ducks warm in extreme cold

We also have some Muscovy, as well as 2 pekin, a blue Swedish pair and a Rouen pair. So far the Muscovy have been the least of my concerns. My little Swedish girl has been a bit worrisome. Maybe I will look into some other heat options for them. In case we need it. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it right?
I must have some wimpy Muscovies.. But I also have an outcast duck who isn't allowed to sleep with the others (don't know why, but the other ducks just don't like her anymore :(), so she could use a little extra help from a heater.

Anyway, the two coop heaters I linked above are good options.

That’s so sad that they don’t like her. I always hate seeing things like that in my flock. Ducks can be so mean and judgemental lol.
I’ll look into the heat you recommended!

Muscovy, Quackers, and Calls here. First year with the calls.

The chocolate girl in my profile pic is in her third winter and going strong.
Love the chocolate Muscovy. We have 2 chocolate pied females and they are stunning. Really wanting to find some lilac or lavender ones as well. I love call ducks as well. How do they fair in the winter?

I've now managed to breed my own lilacs. Not difficult (blue and chocolate) but does take a couple of years from scratch.

Calls are doing well so far! They tend to keep to their own, but look healthy and are loud, as they should be. lol

That is so cool! I didn’t know what color varieties came from which’s I feel like all the blue varieties are harder to come by. At least in my area. I’ve been looking at some hatching eggs online but I haven’t bit the bullet yet.
Call ducks are the cutest little things. I wasn’t sure how well they’d do in winter temps so it’s good to know that they seem to do just as well as their larger friends!

Blues can be a bit difficult to find around here too. It's mostly whites, blacks, and chocolates.

Lavender and Bronze are what I can't find! Would love to get my paws on some!

They will be fine. So long as it isn't drafty and they have shelter. No heat lamps required, just nice dry bedding.

Mine did fine in -50 temperatures.

I have the same conditions as Canadian Wind. My Muscovy ducks, chickens, guinea fowl, and peacocks all do alright in extreme cold temperatures. The important thing is that each groups has a coop that has deep bedding and provides protection from wind and snow.

Remember that some of the warmest jackets and blankets are filled with down for good reason.

I’m sure I’m just over worrying and they will be fine. This is my first northern winter with ducks and chickens. We used to live in NC and it got cold but nothing like this where you turn into ice the minute you step outside lol
