Keeping Ravens Away?

Hello,
We have had some raven problems with our chicks. We have aviary netting over their yard, but sometimes it gets a hole. We haven't had too many raven problems this year or last year, because we always chase them away. But I am worried that someday when I am occupied and can't chase them away a raven will find a way in. Is there anything we can do to keep the ravens away aside from chasing them away?
Thanks!

I've seen a tip on this site for keeping hawks away, and it seems like it should work for ravens. People tie metalic streamers to the netting. I don't know where they get it though. I suppose you could buy the streamers for bicycles and take them apart?

I'm not so sure about that, Ravens are attracted to shiny objects and have fooled people into thinking they have a thief in the house by hopping in through open windows and stealing jewlery which has been glinting in the sun on window ledges and side tables. The stolen merchandise has subsequently been recovered (in some cases) when the nests disintegrate and the objects fall to the ground.

Chris.

I had a problem with ravens as well. I never put up netting because our Banties were way to wiley about getting out of the pen. I made a bucket(catlitter) head scarecrow with big eyes at the top(like some moths have) and music tape fingers that blew in the wind. It stood in the middle of the chicken pen so to seem someone was always there. It helped a lot. The ravens were very reluctant to come in towards the pen. Maybe one or two scarecrows would help your yard.

Cornishma -- Yep! It's amazing how many holes you don't see though
