Vultures do eat chickens! How do I keep them away?

What is a chicken hawk? Are you referring to Ret Tail Hawks or something different?
I didn’t know so I did some digging and found this…
A chicken hawk is an informal term used to refer to three species of North American hawks: the Cooper's hawk, sharp-shinned hawk, and red-tailed hawk. Although they are called "chicken hawks," chickens do not make up a significant part of their diets; they primarily hunt other birds and small mammals.

This was on a randomly available information site.

I didn't know this - I don't think we have Cooper's or Sharp-shinned in this area that I've seen. Good information.

We have red tails around, and occasionally coopers. The red rails never seem to bother, but I’ve seen the coopers eyeing up the chickens, and lost a few to unseen hawks, our distant neighbors over the hill have seen a coopers eating theirs, I bet the same one got ours.
