Kitten, had pink eye and black stuff in nose

Hello, I was looking at getting a kitten and upon arrival noticed that it had black stuff in its nose. The owner said they had pink eye, but thought they recovered. I am just curious if it could be something more serious, and may also spread to other cats.

Always assume it's contagious, could be as simple as a URI (contagious, cheap/easy to treat) or something worse, I would call & describe it to your vet and see if they'd suggest just quarantining and monitoring him, or if they'd suggest bringing him in
