Lactose free yoghurt for chickens? Toxic?

Hello!

I have been giving my chickens lactose free yoghurt (probiotics) to help them recover after antibiotics. Then I read that lactose free food contains something called galactose, which is toxic to chickens? I have never heard this before. Does any of you have any information about this? I am giving 27 chickens 1 liter yoghurt every day. Now I want to stop.

Hi! You can give your hens plain yogurt with live cultures, no need to give lactose free. The cultures eat the lactose which makes the yogurt tangy.

Give them regular yogurt. Problem solved.

Also, milk curd is a favourite and a really good super food for small chicks.
