That was my initial thought...Cockerel
Pumpkin hasn't crowed or laid yet! Gotta wait and see.I had one that was very hard to judge as well. Thought it was a cockerel its whole life. Until it started laying eggs. Nice surprise! Sometimes you just never know until they crow or lay an egg. Sounds like you are at least close to finding out! Hoping for the best!
How can you be sure? Just when I think I've learned to play the Gender Guessing Game, something gets me stumped. Pumpkin is fairly small compared to his/her flockmates. Is he just a small docile boy that doesn't crow?Cockerel, no doubt.
I know how the comb and wattles look, but am I missing something? A lot of my birds have reddened combs/wattles/lobes and are starting to lay. My boy Adam crows daily. Pumpkin just seems like an 'in-betweener'.Mmm... Idk, I'm gonna say cockerel.![]()
Thanks for venturing with me in figuring this out.Going to say boy, going by the stance in the last photos and feather sheen.
Never had one of these so it is a pure guess.![]()
