Our chicken has a lump on the neck/shoulder area doesn't seem to be bothering her but we would like to know what it may be. We are just starting our flock so don't know much other than reading online. Does anyone know what this may be?

More than likely a full crop. Your her may be a he based on coloring, a good side standing shot would help to know for sure.

I also thought it was an issue with the crop but the lump seems to be higher than where I think the crop is? It's just to the right of the base of the neck.. looking at the chicken it on the left... directly under my daughters right hand. Is that where the crop is? I thought the crop is lower toward the Breast? I am so new to this I have so much I need to learn. Thank you for any input you have!

In younger birds the crop rides up higher, in older birds it hangs lower. You could remove the feed at night and check in the morning to see if the lump has disappeared. If it has it's the crop. I can now see it's a rooster in case you didn't know that if was.

This lump has been there for about 2 months doesn't affect the chicken... what do you suggest I do about it? Also a rooster!? Oh no! She was supposed to be a hen! How do you tell the difference at this age It is 16 weeks old

If it's not the crop I have no idea unfortunately. It's definitely a rooster. It has hackle and saddle feathers. It should be trying to crow soon.
