Larkwell Valley (2023)

Had a pool mishap today. Black Swedish little ended up stuck on her back in it, for who knows how long. She's dry now, but breathing very heavily very quickly and I'm having a hard time getting her to stop shivering. Hoping she's just still getting back to normal, have no idea what happened.
Okay, still no idea what happened, but she's doing better with the group. I guess her heavy fast breathing was just from stress of being held and inside. She won't admit it, but she did enjoy the hair dryer though

Glad she's okay!
Yeah, I am too. I thought at first one of the drakes had tried breeding, but I didn't see any evidence (of course that doesn't mean it didn't happen, but she's pretty small and young still so I would have personally expected some blood, but maybe that isn't as big a worry as I thought). I wonder if she literally just banana-peeled and fell backwards just right enough to turtle in the water.

Have 6 little females that aren't staying. Turtle is one, but I'm not separating her with the others just yet. Want to make sure she bounces back fully. The other 5 are a blue Swedish, a Cayuga, a Rouen and both my Golden 300s. They just look too similar to other hens I'm keeping, so I might try again next year with them.

Meet you halfway! You can have my extra scovie girls, I'll take the Goldens! :D

Depends... It's pushing the ratio, but I've done worse.

*cheers on Potato*
Maybe I'll keep him over the winter. If he behaves around people, I can always see if someone wants him in spring if they don't get along. Ideally I'd have more than 5 or 6 come breeding season, but over winter it probably won't be.

Should be fine over the winter. I had *cough* almost even numbers without issue until Spring. That's when the drakes got kicked out.
