Larkwell Valley (2023)

Sorry for calling him Potato! :lau You just keep calling him one!

As for the ratio, that would depend on personalities. I know a lot of people do breeding trios in separate pens (tempted to do this myself) so that's always an option?
Oh no, that is his name. I've got Moose, the old one, Potato and then the lean one (who will probably be named Goose tbh)

I only have 2 pens for the scovy that I can do max, including the one the raccoons breached a few years ago. That one has a fair amount of room though, I think it's a 10x10 at least, might honestly be closer to a 15x15 or even 20x20

Okay, so I'm NOT losing my mind!

All I can suggest is to try. I'm sure Goose would appreciate it :)

Hoping to finish two of my pens in a month or less. Then the scovy and mixed flock will be put up and it will be just the runners that are loose. I'd love to get the other 4 done too, but it might not be happening until spring if we get a lot of snow.

I hear you. Been procrastinating on doing this too.
I just haven't had the spending money or the literal time. I'm still waiting to get my first paycheck for the school year, so I've been stretching what I can. Another reason why I decided to sell the Swedish now instead of next spring. I needed the feed money to make it tonext weeks check

Oh sweet payday, how I've missed you so!

Okay. Feed worries are done and I have someone who might want the last 3 females I'm selling. Then it's just the processing male's and the 2 remaining call male's. I've been advertising those 2 for what I paid as day Olds, but I might lower the price just to see if I can get anyone to bite.

Still nor sure if Goose is staying. I'm wanting to keep him, I just have to talk it over and make sure that doesn't make the trip not worth it for the other 3. I'm fine with it personally, but my mom might not want to go that far just for 3 birds. Not like we have a ton of room in the freezer either though, I'm not sure Goose would really even fit now that I think about it. Going to be hard enough with the other 3, or even other 2 if we keep one in the fridge to eat once it's rested

For winter, do you think Potato and Goose in one pen and the 3 females in the other will be fine? They'll all be next to each other, but that way the two boys don't have females to claim until they're all put in the same pen in spring. The pens they'll be in for winter are smaller admittedly, but they'll be out of the elements at least and safe from predators

I don't think that would be a problem. Right now I have 7 drakes separated from the rest of the flock and they are doing fine.
