We're trying to get into quail. I've heard rumors that we need a license to raise/sell quail in Arkansas. Does anybody know for sure? If so how did you get your license?

Okay I'll try that again, but for the most part I can't find a yes or no. I just thought someone in my area would know the basics of what I need. Thank you by the way!

Well, if it isn't online, you can go to the city clerk (or county clerk) and ask. If it is required, ask them for the forms and other regulations.

I've been asked so many times that there must be something to it. Oddly, it never occurred to me that somebody would actually want to cash in on the poor soul who's trying to raise a few quail for food or even make a few bucks selling some chicks during the very short selling season.

I've been raising them in West Fork for a few years and have never had any problems from any superiors. The folks that own the feed store here used to raise several varieties and I'd bet he knows the answer. Its called Mathews Feed Barn I believe

Yeah I met a guy that told me he used to raise quail and someone reported him. He said it was $1000/bird (he said anything that isn't native here) and he said the same goes on Pheasants. I just feel I'd rather get the license than pay that kind of fine.

For the most accuracte information call your state department of fish and game. If they don't have the answer (they should, most states they are in charge of game birds) call the state dept of agriculture.

Arkansas game and fish will issue you a permit for 50.00 per year expires june 30 each year for raising bobwhites they will send a biologist to inspect your facility and can come any time they want to, you can raise any other variety without a permit just not bobwhites if you go on line look for the section of comm. permits on ag&f we page hope this is helpful
