i have two indian runners. They are four weeks old. One is very active, vocal, and a big eater. The other is the opposite.

She prefers laying to standing. She's slightly smaller (always was). She's not as chatty and has a quieter voice. If we go to the yard, the other duck will run around and nibble at stuff, and Vivian will just crawl into my lap and hang out there. She also seemingly eats less.

However, she is very active in water. She loves bathing. Always doing it in her water bowl. She dives back and forth in her little pool. While my chatty bird is not so enthusiastic about water.

Do y'all more experienced folks think something could be wrong? Or is it just that she has a lazy personality?

Sounds like my two ducks. I have a Blue Swedish and Cayuga and my Cayuga is crazy, she hunts bugs and forages and is the first one to investigate something new. She almost never lays down and she still goes crazy in the water. My other duck, who happens to be larger, we call her the fat lazy duck. She loves to lay down in her favorite spots, never quacks at us (unlike my Cayuga who is very demanding when out of food or water) doesn’t eat the food unless my other duck does. My Blue is just a follower it seems, but still very active in the water when she gets in, usually she just sits on the lip of the pond while my other duck swims though. Sounds normal to me! But you know your ducks best, if this is a sudden behavioral change I would be concerned but if she is like this all her life, then it may just be her temperment!

Thanks for the responses y'all. It makes me feel better to know somebody else has a lazy duck too. She is a lot more interested in food if I toss it in water.
