Wasn't sure where to post this, so if it gets moved or something, that's fine.
So there was a post I made about my friend, Nubby, who sadly passed away last month from some illness or something me and...we'll call her Cin...didn't detect. The only clue something was wrong was a lump on the underside of her foot.
Well, before she passed, she left behind four eggs. The first one stopped growing in the egg. The second one Cin's husband cracked. The fourth one was infertile. But the third one...
It was such a cutie! But just today, I learned that the chick, who hatched only last night, passed away, before it could even be a full day old.
We're thinking Nubby must've been sick for a while and it passed on to the chicks, but now there's no Nubby Legacy. We're both upset by this, me especially 'cause I managed to keep them warm in my own diy way on the coldest days of the month.
Is this common? Is it a thing that a sick hen passes on weaknesses?
