Life is so strange....
I know moving house has been super delayed for me, but now its all happening it feels so sudden and strange...

I am mostly packed, all my life, all those memories, are finally packed into boxes and I find myself preparing transport boxes for all my animals... in about a week I'm going up to wire my ducks new pen and set up my new aquarium for my goldfish. And within days of that, I'll actually be packing up all my animals and moving.

So excited about the aquarium BTW, my goldies have been long overdue sufficient space. They've made do with 20 gallons or so, and I can finally give them all the care they deserve in a tank that is about 50 gallons. My oldest goldie just turned 7 years old, I just hope she copes with travel okay, because she deserves this new aquarium.

You raise goldfish too? What kind of goldfish do you have? Goldfish are hardy creatures since they can live in the most extreme environments. They usually survive shipping and moving; thats how so many goldfish get shipped across the US everyday. It would help if you starved them for two weeks. That way they don't produce so much ammonia; because goldfish do pee a lot; we just don't see it.

yep! I love my goldies. I have my older girlie, Pearl, and a few of her babies who are about 2-3 years.

shubunkins, an underrated variety imo!

Yes, I'm not going to do a two week fast, but I am going to withhold food for a couple days before moving them, to reduce the amount of waste they produce. Thankfully they won't be bagged too long so I'm not too concerned about ammonia levels spiking. But most of my worry is about them getting stressed out and not coping well during the acclimation process once home
I'm sure it'll go okay, but still

How long is the trip?

^100%
And I can understand why some people don't want to put the time in with a rooster that is extremely aggressive or one that has caused a lot of injuries and stress. I'm vegan (aside from my duck's eggs) and I have had the impulse to eat my aggressive rabbit at least once.
I would never. But we have a love hate relationship. 🤣
So yeah, aggressive animals aren't for the faint hearted.
Vegatarian becuase of my commercial breed roo. On the day he was to be killed... I saw more in him than the others did.
The value of his life; his worth beyond meat on the table. I saved his life; and he taught me, that it is never too late to do what's right. He showed me who I was, not who I was expected to be, or what culture ingrained in me to kill his kind, simply because they are. That loyalty is important in the face of anything, that being honest about my what I value extends to my plate too.
my compassion is not selective, and that there is strength, not weakness,
in kindness, and difference.

Shubunkins along with Common, Comets, and Sarasas are indeed underrated. They look so really pretty when taken care of.

Here is a video of someone's single tail goldfish in China. (I do not know if the link works for you hopefully it does and you can see the pretty fishes)

Make sure you have Methylene Blue ready; it helps reduce stress and salt. But single tailed goldfish are hardier than ranchus; and if ranchus can make it being shipped from Thailand and China to the US; I am sure your goldies would be fine. Also, depending on where you are moving and the weather there; you should give your fishes a Potassium Permanganate bath to help get rid of parasites. The switching of seasons are the time when parasites appear.
