Silkies: the broodiest mother of all chickens breeds in the poultry kingdom. Whether it’s a hundred or seventeen degrees out, you can alway count on having a least one broody silkie hen. I can track my health throughout the year by looking at my unplanned hatchings, You know…the stuff that whoops your butt and makes you slack on chicken chores (covid, broken toe, a wicked virus). I have layers and breeder pens, I seem to do a better job at keeping layer eggs collected then I do my breeder pens. Been feeling crappy lately and now I have eight silkie chicks developing, apparently my silkie cockerel finally found his balance. Haha
