Looks like intestine was sticking out and wrapped around leg.

Does anyone know what this is? When the chick hatched (assisted hatch) there was some blood and after a few moments. I realized the leg was wrapped in what looks like an intestine. I've gotten the leg unwrapped but there's still something sticking out. Should I push it back in or leave it alone?

Sounds as if there was some umbilical cord left that got tangled up.

Just put the chick on a clean towel until it has absorbed entirely which can take a few hours.

You could put some triple antibiotic ointment on the protruded navel to prevent infection.

Thank you for the tip! So no need to try to shove it back in? It's been in the incubator since this morning but I will take it out and let it heal.

I would use antibiotic ointment on it in case it is a prolapse until it goes back in. Do not let it dry out. Is this at the vent or where the umbilical is? Normally with the umbilicus or navel you would want it to dry up.

I think it's definitely the umbilical area. It's not around the tail area where the vent is. So put some antibiotic on it and let it heal itself?

It will slip in on its own accord. Just put some antibiotic ointment on and let the chick rest on a clean kitchen towel.
You can leave it in the brooder but separate from the others so they will not be able to reach it.

He doesn't look like he's doing well :( he was fine last night and this morning but when I just came home he's laying on his back. I got him up and moving around, now he's standing on his legs sleeping, barely opening his eyes even when startled. Any other suggestions what to do?
